Is it true or false that if you cut your dogs nails too short, they can bleed to death?

I doubt that he could bleed to death, but it could be a big mess. Pet stores and catalogs sell a product called Kwik Stop. You apply the powder to the bleeding nail and it stops right away. If you don't have that, you can jam the nail into a bar of soap - that works pretty good. If his nails are really long and are hurting the way he walks or splaying out his feet, you can have the vet sedate him and cut them back really far. Then, if you trim them once a month and file them, they should stay short. Is it true or false that if you cut your dogs nails too short, they can bleed to death?
I've never heard of one bleeding to death. It does bleed quite a lot and is painful. I would be very careful. You can see the quick if their nails are a light color. I would leave the nail cutting to the vet. Groomers aren't always careful. Is it true or false that if you cut your dogs nails too short, they can bleed to death?
THEY WILL BLEED SOME . IF YOU TAKE YOUR DOG TO TO THE VET. HE WILL DO IT FOR YOU AND THAT WOULD BE A LITTLE SAFER.

HAVE A GOOD DAY
It might be possible, because if you cut them too short, when they walk on them the open wound could keep coming open. If you could keep them off their feet... but most dog are like little kids. You just cant keep them still.
dont cut them too short where they bleed o my god how retarted are you
It may be possible if your dog has a thinning blood condition as the blood will not clot properly. If your dog is healthy the blood will clot eventually. You may use ice and/or direct pressure on the tip of the nail to aid in stopping the bleed.

If you would like to avoid all of this, try using a flashlight and a pencil or pen to help you out. First use the flashlight to aid in visualization of the nail and the root. Next use the pen or pencil to draw a line just in front tof the nails root. Then take your clippers and cut in front of the line towards the nails tip. This may help you avoid any cutting of the nails root and causing a bleed.
False
False. I accidentally cut one of my dog's nails too short and he bled for about ten seconds, then he was fine.
I have heard that, but I don't believe it. I accidently cut one of my dog's nails too short when she jerked while cutting them. She bled for a few seconds, and that was it.
It is a possibility, because the nail actually wraps around a soft fleshy bit.. like our finger tips if you will permit the comparrison. He may not bleed to death, but he would bleed a lot and it would hurt like hell. The pads are another bad place to get a cut.. they also bleed profusely.
i dont believe its true,i cut my dogs nails to short once and she did bleed ALOT, it was a mess..but i but some corn starch on the nail and it quit.. so no ..
Your dog won't bleed to death but could bleed alot. Cutting your dogs nails on a regular basis will make the quick get smaller reducing the chance you'll cut it in the future.
false
i don't know but i dounbt it
