False nails - acrylic?

i have been getting acrylic nails for the last 12 years from the same nail technician, for some reason in the last 6 months whenever i get the nails i get a terrible itchiness around the nail. it takes about 10 - 12 hours before it kicks in, it last for over a week. she tells me that she has not changed any of her products. has anyone else had this problem of knows what could be causing it. i have tried taking anti histimines to help but they do not work.False nails - acrylic?
You have probably developed a sensitivity to the product. That's why the anti-histimines aren't working, because it's not an allergy. Sometimes when a product is used for a long time, you can develop sensitivity to it that you may not have gotten if you had used it for a short period of time. Ask your tech if she can try a different brand on you--she'll probably be willing to do it since you've been a loyal client for so many years. Changing the brand will probably help your sensitivity. If that doesn't work, you can change to wraps or gels.
