Difference between false nails?

Fibre glass, Gel and acrylic.

What are the differences in the nail and the process?Difference between false nails?
Acrylic nails......A tip is glued onto the tip of your nail to extend it, its shaped and blended to match your nail as closely as possible, then a brush dipped in monomer is used to pick up powdered acrylic which is then overlaid onto your nail and the tip. There are many different ways to do this depending on the style. Natural, pink and white, colour correction etc. Acrylics can be used without tips too, either just as an overlay or with forms to create a tip.

Gel nails.....pretty much the same as acrylics except that a thick gel is applied to your nail and tip and then you place your hand under a UV light to cure (set) the gel. Gel tend to do better where your hands come under constant water attack but are slightly harder to remove safely

Fibreglass (or silk) nails.....You can have this either with tips or more commonly just as an overlay. A piece of fibreglass/silk is applied to your nail and is coated with several layers of resin. The fibreglass/silk is extremely fine and is totally invisible once a couple of layers of resin have been applied. This is in my opinion the nicest, most natural looking artificial nail system. Its also the kindest on the natural nail.

I have to add that there is prep involved before application of any of these nails systems, prep differs slightly for each but is probably the most important part of any nail system. Removal for acrylic and fibreglass/silk involves soaking finger tips in acetone and gently buffing off the softened product. Removal of UV gel is filing it off, messy and dusty unless you have gone for a UV acrylic (salons still sell as gel) in which case it soaks off like acrylic

Anymore questions just ask

EDIT

Jillian B...Better quality nail varnish don't tend to eat into the acrylic as much and always use non acetone polish remover for removing polish if you have any kind of false nail.Difference between false nails?
I can only answer on gel and acrylic nails. I've found gel nails (also called UV gel) to be less damaging than acrylic. One of the things I like about them is that when you remove the polish- they stay clear and shiny. Whereas with acrylics, they are dull and cloudy when you remove the polish (and usually require a good buffing). Gel nails may take a bit longer to put on; your nails need to sit under a UV light in order to 'set'. Gels are a bit more expensive, but worth it over acrylics.

Hope that helped.
fibre glass nails you buy full and you stick them on with glue

gel nails you add your fibre glass nails and build up the gel on top of nail

Acrylic nails are an artificial nail using the gel that you apply layers of to give the illusion that you have a long, beautiful free edge. For somebody who has ridges, splits or weak nails that no matter what they do they can't get strong healthy nails, this is an alternative to having beautiful nails. Acrylics have now got a bad reputation, but if you use a proper product and application they can look as natural as a natural nail.

:~)
Acrylic are glued onto your nails

Gel have a tip put onto your nails then a layer of gel over the top to project and last longer..
