Ive recently been toying with the idea of gettinf false nails. I was thinking of getting a set of acrylics done at my local salon (拢29.50). I recently had my hair done there and it was the best cut of my entire life and i'm sure they employ the same level of professionalism from all their staff (incl nail tech). However i have heard that it can ruin your nails (im a dreadful nail biter though so i dn't think they could get much worse), and, you need to get infils every few weeks (expensive?). Should i go ahead, pro's/con's, other suggestions or false nail recommendations to stick on myself?False Nails?
I've had them done before (my own nails are quite weak and brittle) and have loved them - they're quite addictive actually, but can be kind of annoying sometimes , i.e. for picking things up with - especially if you're used to short nails. I've gotten them filled a few times too and have ended up keeping them for weeks but when I've finally gotten sick of them and had them removed my nails have been in bits (and as I said they're weak naturally anyway) - really weak and brittle. I got my last ones removed in August and my nails still haven't recovered!! That said, though, they do look lovely so if you're prepared for the way they might be when the falsies come off then I'd say go for it. You might as well give it a try.False Nails?
there nice while they last...quite a bit of money for what they are and then infills every 3 weeks which is going to be about 拢15, and yeh they do ruin ur nails really bad but if u bite them i suppose its not overly bad, when they put the false ones on they file ur nails right down so they become very week, and once the nails are off they are very very very week and it will take a long while to get them back to normal...ive given up with false nails i did used to get them dun alot but now i dont see the point....
The choice is entirely yours, but I have to disagree with some of the others who said that acrylic will ruin your nails. No, it is not acrylic that ruins your nails, it is a bad tech who ruins your nails, usually by using a Dremel drill on your natural nail, and filing them down until there is almost nothing left to them. This ruins your nails, and it can be quite painful as well.
Getting your nails done should never be painful, not even in the least bit. If it does, then leave and find another salon with better techs who use top quality products - and who are licensed and thoroughly trained. Make sure that no matter who does them, that they are sanitizing, and disinfecting all of their implements in between each and every customer. Many techs don't do this, and this is an easy way to catch some nasty infection, or even a disease.
If you are paying less than $25 for a full set, then you are probably going to a 'discount' salon. This is NOT the type of place you want to be going to. They WILL more often than not ruin your nails. And they are usually quite filthy as well. Its worth it to spend the extra money and find a really good tech. They're out there, you just have to find them. But, you won't find them in salons like they have in Walmart and places like that.
Good luck!
I would go for it at that price here we have to pay $40.00
I've had acrylics and LOVED them. I kept them for about 2 years. Yes, my nails were very damged underneath when I decided to get the acrylics removed. But, in about 9 months they were back to normal. They are long, strong and beautiful now on their own and I still consider acrylics. They are sexy and stay nice longer and it feels like your being spoiled.
Refills depend on how fast your nails grow. I went every 3 weeks and spent 15 on refills. Is that in your budget?
Best tip: if you decide to remove them let the nail salon take them off. That will save your nails a little.
If yours are bad anyway -Go for it!
PS don't do stick ons! They fall off and don't fit right anyway.
They do like nice, but make sure if you get them, you don't get them too long. Also, they do ruin your nails for a while... but, if you don't take them off and let them come off on their own, your nails won't be as ruined. It takes like 2 months at least to get your nails back to normal. I had my nails done for homecoming, and I took them off after that, and my nails were kinda messed up. Your nails grow though, so they will go back to normal eventually. My nails are still getting back to normal.
My mom's a nail biter and gets her nails done, so it shouldn't be too bad lol.
Since your a nail biter I'd say go for it! This goes to the girls with short nails too x
If you have long nails please stop!! x
have a pro do them I think you will like them, they may be hard to get used to so don't get them too long or your gonna have some problems especially if you wear contacts and you try to take them out. I know, I found that one out and it was so hard to get a grip on them.
enjoy them though. Have fun!
Do it.
you only live once. if you don't like them remove them n stuff.
acrylics are so much better than the plastic d.i.y ones u can buy. i have acrylics done all the time and as long as u treat your nails when u dont have them on they wont damage your nails. i usual wear mine 2 weeks on 2 weeks off an in the 2 weeks off i moisturise my nails and they are fine
I would always steer clear of falsies -they completely destroy your nail bed, they can hurt when pulled off (accidentally) and you need infills all the time.
I would persevere with your own nails, spend some money on nail conditioners, stop biting and get a stress toy instead. U will be glad in the long run. Also tapping your fingers (not nails) on a surface, i.e the same as typing makes your nails stronger as it gets the circulation going!
i never had false nails and one reason is that (as you said) they ruin your nails, but if your nails arent very nice as you are a nail biter ...lol than there is nothing to loose, i think it will be good for you also to help you stop the biting
....wawo my grammar here is sooo messed up sorry about that...lol
my mom used to work at a nail salon and she says like acrylics ruin ur natural nails REAL bad so i just put on tons of lip gloss so u won't bite ur nails. cause that's how i trained myself. like if you put on lipgloss, the lipgloss will get on your hand and it's kina hard to wash off. BEST OF LUCK!

Getting my false nails off!?
help! i got acrylics like 4/5 weeks ago but they are all peely and grown out now so i wanna get rid. i was just at the pharmacy getting something else and i saw some nail varnish remover that had for false/acrylic nails on it, and thought 'perfect' so i bought it, and iv just realised that its acetone free so that it will remove polish from acrylics without damaging them - exactly not what i need. I only have a little bit of my regular cheap nail polish remover (containing acetone) left - what can i do.
im not going to pick them off and its too far to go to the place where i got them done, so ideally i need something i can do at home
oh and how long will it take to soak them?Getting my false nails off!?
You need pure acetone to soak the acrylics until it is soft enough to push the product off you nails. Anything else is likely to damage your nails. You could choose to go to a salon and have someone remove it for you, but they will probably charge you $5.Getting my false nails off!?
You can buy pure acetone at a beauty supply store I have even seen it at wal-mart before. You want to fill a GLASS bowl not plastic it will eat it. and soak your nails for 10-15 minutes you will then need to file down the rest if it all isn't off repeat steps above. You can also get quite a bit off with cuticle nippers or nail clippers.
go buy some more acetone nail polish remover, or they make an acrylic/gel nail remover, think it has higher concentration of acetone in it...that's the only thing you can do...soaking them in water will loosen them up, but you'll still have to peel them off, which will damage your nails further.
fill up your sink with warm water, not hot but warm. pull up the drain thing so the water wont go down the drain and just keep them in the warm water for at least 10-15 minutes.
I'm pretty sure you are going to want to go purchase the heavy duty remover WITH acetone.
If you are low on cash, can you just exchange what you bought? If its a transportation issue, either wait or find a ride.
I'm sure you can find something in the garage, like paint thinner, but I wouldn't try it. That stuff won't only remover your fake nails, it'll remove your real ones, your skin off your fingers...
As cumbersome as they may be right now, and unsightly, you really want to use the proper/safe products. That would be acetone remover. Anything else won't do it, and you'll end up peeling away your natural nail, this will hurt and leave them weak. As they grow out they will bend and chip, and continue to peel. It'll take months for your nails to recover and be healthy and strong again.
Lastly, until you can get the proper stuff, you can always file them down which will make them less noticeable as well as more comfortable.
Good luck.

Please help me.. False nails have absoluetly ruined my nails?
I have been wearing false nails which i buy from a shop and attach using glue provided for what has been a very long time now. The glue provided is a superglue and is very strong. The glue has absolutely ruined my own natural nails, so much so that my nails are ugly and have gone so small that they will not grow whatsoever. Also, all of my nails appear inflamed. The main problem now is that my own nails have become so bad that i can not leave the house without having false nails on as i am so ashamed and couldn't possibly allow anyone to see the damage i have done to myself. Also, where there is no nail, the skin is very sensitive and hurts when something touches it. I have found i am hiding behind false nails because of how i feel about my own nails. I don't know what to do because i know people will just say stop wearing them, but i seriously could not let anyone see my own nails and i am not in a situation where i do not know what to do. PLEASE could you help me?Please help me.. False nails have absoluetly ruined my nails?
Stop wearing the fake nails, and go and see your doctor.
Don't worry, they will grow back eventually. :-)Please help me.. False nails have absoluetly ruined my nails?
It will take time for your own nails to grow out. You will need to be patient but you will need to leave the artificial nails off. If your nails are inflamed then you need to go see a doctor.this works

False nails... What's the deal?
Okay, I know these shops are springing up everywhere lately but don't false nails cause problems?
I'm always cooking, I do lots of painting and drawing and I play the guitar - all three of which require short nails.
Doesn't having long, false nails limit the kinds of things you can do? And it's it (at risk of getting yelled at) a bit unhygeinic?
Doctors and chefs aways have to have short nails. It's just easier to scrub them.
I'm just wondering cos it seems to me that the media's idea of 'ideal beauty' is leading to flase nails, false hair, false boobs... Is plastic that attractive?False nails... What's the deal?
They are very unsanitary. You could be carrying all kinds of germs under them, including Staph. And if you don't get them filled right away or if you don't get them removed and have a new set put on every couple visits you could have mold growing underneath them, yum ;)False nails... What's the deal?
its a personal choice...not really for you to judge others!
plastic is made for toys :P
I have long nails that are real and sadly I'm asked if they are fake many times.
besides fake nails look like talons. I once saw the cashier at Wal-Mart on our grocery shopping days with un-natural bright red fake nails that were like 3 inches long! she could barely do her job! it was so incredibly stupid looking!
The ones that have them done have too much money and time on their hands, and can't cook anyway. They probably get their husbands to do the washing up and all they want is to doll themselves up to look good.
I think its not the way you paint the outside, if the inside is ugly it doesn't matter how much you spend - you are still unattractive.
I like false nails far better than real LONG ones.LOL,but yeh, they are hard to pull up socks and all with
BUT in my opinion short and natural looks best
it' just a female ploy to hide a very bad habit?
if only they realised growing their own would save them a fortune?
Im an all natural kind of girl when it comes to plastic surgery and i keep my make up to the minimum and keep it very natural looking but i have to say that i really like acrylic nails. I think they look great, and i don't do anything that they really interfere with. I guess its just a matter of personal taste. I personally think they look great.
i hate the look of fake nails. i mean c'mon ladies - they look like protruding claws. nails do not actually grow like that.
i got them once for a formal occasion and they were so hindering that i tried taking them off a couple days later. even a scratch for an itch is not satisfying!!
I agree, I wore the false stick ons once when I was younger, and it pinged off and landed in a strangers drink in a pub!
I dont like to see those white painted on lines at the top of a false nail - it is so unnatural!
I like long nails when they are well maintained, maybe with a manicure, I think it looks very feminine. But those fake plastics look tacky and cheap.
Thanks!
I must admit i am a HUGE fan of plastic. My nails don't grow so every now and again I get my nails done. I used to be against them because they are supposed to interfere with the natural growth of your nails by weakening them and, stripping the top layer off but I'm REALLY vain. I always wash my hands so I don't really find them un hygienic.
plastic is repulsive to me, i play violin so i have short nails too
PLASTIC is weird!! People are not all satisfied with what they have! It's just WEIRD! They should learn how to love their selves! I have short nails and I'm proud of them! I clean my hands and feet regularly!
People with plastic surgery are all bunch of weirdos... :)
They say that plastic surgery is miracle but it is a work of a devil.. T_T sorry to say..
it's just our effed up society trying to brainwash you. don't give in.
Yeah it is easier to have short nail, but having manicures make you look really clean cut. I like getting my nails done, but it does limit a lot of things you do. I don't get them done ALL the time. Maybe about 5 times a year... Getting boob jobs is something completely different, you're changing your appearnce to the extreme %26amp; i irriversable.
well there cool
I find it so so tacky.
But yes, the media's idea of beauty (just see any advertisement for any field) represents a blessed few and men, following their second brain, buy.
i dont like fake looking stuff x
some hair extensions lok really good and some nails look ok as long as there short but im not into the full on talons nad plasticy extensions with orange sking and big fake boobs lol x
I am a nurse and normally i have short nails too. But i got fake ones for my wedding a couple years ago. your right i could not keep them clean for 10 minutes. and they make your fingertips useless. i couldn't even pick my wedgie. I ended up picking them off on our honeymoon. I think you right about society's push for a fake body image.
Unfortunately for some people, there are problems with false nails. They can lead to infection and injury if the salon does not follow proper sanitation procedures or if the nail technician is unskilled. As well, during the application of false nails, usually the surface of the natural nail is buffed or filed, which leads to thinner nails which can break, become thinner, or become more sensitive and painful. And then there are women who have had false nails for years, and love them, and have never had a problem with them, so you do have to balance the horror stories that get repeated a lot, with the average experience. Long nails can limit some people in the activities that they choose to do, but some people think that this is an acceptable compromise. I think that it is important that we feel good about ourselves and pride in putting our ';best face'; foward. Society does put a lot of pressure on appearance, and I think it is up to us all individually to find that balance of feeling good about ourselves while maintaining a grip on reality and priorities. I don't think that false everything leads to total happiness, as can be vouched for by many people who are going through plastic surgery to fix or improve previous surgeries, and yet something as simple as nail enhancements can be the difference between a woman feeling OK versus beautiful, and that self confidence is important. No easy answers in the world of beauty, but I think that as women, we need to be supportive of each other as a whole, and I really believe that true beauty is a balance of appearance (not perfection, just taking care of yourself) and character.

Getting My False Nails Filled!?
Hi, Please Could Some One Tell Me How Much it Costs To Get False Nails Filled, I Am Going On Holiday On The 5th August 09 And I Want False Acrylic Nails Done, I Have Had Them Before, But If I Got Them Done On The 20th July Then They Might Grow Out, So I Was Thinking About Getting Them Filled, If You Know What I Mean? Thanks :)Getting My False Nails Filled!?
usually around 拢15 some times even cheaper.
depends on where you get them done.
but it wont be as much as getting them done from the start.Getting My False Nails Filled!?
It depends on where you have had them done and where you are getting them filled. They can cost between 拢10-拢30 depending on what you have on your nails right now.
You might want to look into having Calgel tips put on in the future - the are much kinder to your nails then Acrylic tips and they don't show as much when you need infills as they don't file your nail down much when the are put on. I have these done all of the time.
Getting them filled costs about $17 on average. Personally, I don't think getting them done for one event is worth it, unless you plan on getting them filled about every month, and that gets costly. Growing them out is also a pain, looks bad, and is bad for your nails. That's just my opinion though, best of luck!
It'll cost around 15 to 25 dollars, depending on where you go.

Acrylic False Nails....... alternatives????
Hello
A couple of times i have had nail extensions put on, Acrylic ones but i seem to have an allergic reaction to them (i get a pimply rash come out on my skin mostly face and legs which itches). I am not sure if it is the glue they use to put them on with or the Acrylic nails themsleves that cause the reaction.
I am prone to a bit of Eczema anyway but dont have any other allergies.
Can anyone recommend an alternative to Acrylic nails or the glue they use as i desperatley would like nail extensions for a forth coming family event coming up. Or is there a really really good anti histmine that would fight my allergy. Piriton did not work last time.
Thank you for any help XAcrylic False Nails....... alternatives????
I think you can get silk nails, which are better for your skin and nails.Acrylic False Nails....... alternatives????

You Could Try To Grow Your Own Nails
I Tryied To Grow My Own Nails But They Wern't Strong Anoth So I Went Into Boots And Asked Them If They Had Anythink That Would Help My Nails To Get Stronger
So I Got This Stuff Called 'Nu Nale Cream' Its A Nail Strengthener!
You Just Have To Rub A Bit On Each Day And Three Weeks My Nails Are Now The Longest And The Strongest They Have Ever Been..
And The Best Thing Is That Its Cheap An There Your Own Nails
Have you tried the GEL extensions.
Get gel extensions they still have to glue the tips on but with the gel nails they last longer and can be re-painted several times. If you are not allergic to super glue then it is the acrylic that is the problem.
did you try gel nails?
The more glue and rubbish you use the worse your going to get. you would be better off to have a manicure every month and strengthen the nails you have Jessica nail products are fantastic, maybe try choosing a beauty salon that uses Jessica stuff.
You don't have to have long nails as long as they are tidy and well painted that's all that matters, I wouldn't go through the pain of it all when with a bit of work your own nails would be fine.
And to be honest, an hour or so into the family do you should be having such a good time you would have totally forgotten all about your false nails. Have fun.

HEEELP!!!! Cant take my false nails off!?
i cant get my false nails off!!
I bought some from the supermarket and put them on, but dont like them so want to take them off!!!HEEELP!!!! Cant take my false nails off!?
Step 1 = Take a rough nail file and remove the top ';shiny'; layer off the false nails
Step 2 = Soak your fingers... it will take around 10 minutes to soften them
Step 3 = GENTLY work one edge of the nail with the thin file attached to nail clippers... if it lifts easily (and doesn't pull), you're ready to remove them. If it doesn't want to lift at all, go back to soaking.
That glue is meant to stay adhered for 7-10 days... removing them right away can be a royal pain.HEEELP!!!! Cant take my false nails off!?
Clip them back as far as you can and soak in neat acetone - takes a long time! You have to soak for about 5 mins, then buff some off, then soak and buff, and keep on doing it.
Fill a bowl with WARM and SOAPY water add in some salt and let it dissolve. the lsowly peel them off.

hiya soak them in boiling water and when your hands are in the water start to try and peel them off. If it's soar to peel them back try and peel them forward thats how i got mines off. good luck xx
Perhaps it would have been a good idea not to put them on in the first place.
Think again, next time you consider any false addtions to your body !
dont rip them off!!! youll destroy your nails. if youve tried soakin them in warm-hot soapy water n tat didnt work then just give them a couple of hours.. cheap nails tend to fall off eventually
mix some acetone in warm water and soak your nails for about 10 minutes....they will come out easily....mine did.......if this does not work then go to a salon.....they get them off
hahahahaha XD
i mean...oh dear...
Why do you buy fake nails? It's pointless you have your own.
Claire it would be nice spanking your bottom until its red with hand prints ha ha ha xxx :)
You are a fool for buying those stupid things

FALSE NAILS... HELP ME PLZZ?
Ok so i have really short nails cus i bite them all the time i have tried to stop before but i just can't so... how long do my nails have to be to be able to apply false nails?
10 points best answer
also if u need anymore help or have questions please ask and ill answerFALSE NAILS... HELP ME PLZZ?
i love wearing fake nails.
your nails can be short.it really doesnt matter how long your nails are.as long as your nails arent to where the meat out of your finger is showing,(disgusting i know)then your good.fake nails are good and cheaper right??.loll.oh and make sure when you put them on,dont use too much glue,it shows ans try to make them look real.thats what i do.FALSE NAILS... HELP ME PLZZ?
As lonng as you have nails, you can apply false nails. Especially if you get them done professionally! But if they are a little bit on the long side (1/2 of a cm above the nail bed) then they will look even better. They are false nails so they will extend your nail length now, and look nice.
Ok i don't recommend fake nail because they mess up your nails. But my nails were short too and they never grew for years but i started putting nail polish on them all the time and it grew so much and they look fake but its so long thats why.But if you want to put fake nails thats your decision.Or if you dont theres a liquid that makes your nails grow 2-4 days.
umm they don't have to be that long probably just your usual length cuz your nails grow and if they were already too long then you couldn't cut it
Well, aslong as their not THAT short, then it'll be fine, just apply lots of glueee :)
The longer the better though, they stay on more that way!
but you can have them on short nails to! :)
i bite my nails too but i have also worn false nails, as long as you have a bit of nails - you're ok!

Real nails or false nails??
Real all the way!Real nails or false nails??
I prefer french tipsReal nails or false nails??
False nails are grose.
French manicured real nails are attractive
Real nails, definitely. False nails just look like lumps of plastic glued on.
Real nails. Fake nails look weird so i prefer real
Acrylic nails do look really nice, but when you remove them your nails are ruined!!
Real, you can be more proud of them if they're real...people could say ';omg i like your nails are they real?'; and you'll be like
'; yeah, he he! XD';
And they don't fall off...
Real all the way its amazing what a french manicure can do for your nails!
real, fake nails look just that, fake.
REAL nails......,,, long nails or short as long as its really clean ...
real wih a good manicure
Real nails are the best, manicures and pedicures will make the nails look nice. False nails may look good, but they can ruin the natural nails and making them weak and soft. It can take a year to 3 to 4 years to get them strong again. As a qualify beauty therapist I should know as it has taken 3 years for my nails to recover from fake nails. I prefer real nails that are short or long and a lot nicer to do manicures and pedicures and also doing french.on
I am tempted to say that real nails are more comfortable to deal with. Fake nails spoil your nails in the long run only when you wear them continuously. I used to wear them 3 months at a go and then take them off for at least 2 months running. I never leave them on like what some people do for a year or more.
But who gives a hell about fake nails now anyway. I am thinking of new business ventures worth £1m and more. The classy rich guys are even put off with a woman who wears them. So that's just a tip for you babes.
I don't think it matters really...you can have great looking real nails with the right manicure but now you can get fake nails that look just as good. As long as they look good then I don't think it really matters.
REAL! False nails ruin your real nails and they look kind of scary if you get them too long. Keep your real nails with a clean manicure and apply top coats every other day to keep the manicure lasting longer. You can also get OPI Nail Envy to make your real nails longer.
My nails are real but because they are long and well groomed people always assume they are false.
real! i cant stand false nails iv had them done twice %26amp; it made me feel like ripping my fingers off!!
Real it is always best to use what you have, your body doesn't need more chemicals!!!
Real nails although false ones are good for a special occasion
real nails
real looks better and it easier to maintain.
I have real nails but really short..
real please
real nails please!
real nails defo!unless u have them done professionally u can tell if some1s got fake 1s on!
Don't care as long as they dig into my back!
I have real nails. Mines grow really fast.
totally REAL a french manicure and pedicure is the best
I have always been fortunate enough to have long pretty nails. Everyone always accused me of having fake ones especially when I have them polished. So now I don't polish them anymore. lol If you can grow them then I say go for the real ones. Fake ones ruin your real nails.
real for sure

False Nails????
Does anyone know a good internet site for buying false stick on nails. All the ones I have seen have been for ';tips';. Its the whole nail that I want. Just had gel nails done last week and they are off already. Used the false ones before but the place I used to get them doesnt do them anymore. ThanksFalse Nails????
i usually buy mine from boots, the nailine ones are really good the glue is dead strong and they do different lengths and shapes as well as colours and some with stones on.
i took mine off yesterday after 10 days, the only reason for this was because of nail regrowth.
sorry but dont know any interent sites only boots and superdrug think they were just under 拢6 for a whole pack with 24 different sizes in.False Nails????
Go to this site -
http://www.totalbeauty.com/?gclid=CKzDmv鈥?/a>
Or you could go to walgreens or walmart... I know they sell them.
just pop along to boots, you'll get really good quality ones there, whether you want just natural, pre polished or french manicured, they have a good quality selection
dont...they kill the nail uner them
Boots and Superdrug do them. I am sure I seen them in drugstores/pharmacies/chemists too =] x
false nails look horible....so tacky! Grow natural ones,it wont harm your nails, and it costs nothing!
Boots the chemist
I'm not a fan of false nails. I wore them once. They looked amazing but they wouldn't come off. They made my nails all soft and dented where I tried to lever them off. It took a year for them to recover.
i would never use false nails. if you get tips, by the right people they last for AGES ( 4-6 weeks ) and never come off, and you only have to have in fills. so naturel as well. i live in the UK, and this shopping centre called the Galleries, theres some amazing chinese people who do them for 拢25.00. go and get tips, seriously, they dont come off. the last time i wanted mine off i had to pay the a fiver and it took 40 mins.
If I'd tried them all and found that none were suitable, I'd focus on growing my healthiest natural nails. Eat a well balanced diet, and keep your nails and cuticles well moisturized for the best results. Good luck!

False nails?
i recently got my nail done in a beauty salon and the only day i have off to have them infilled the salon do not have any appointments left on that day does anyone know if i can go to a different salon and get them infilled or will i have to pay for a brand new set ?False nails?
I think you should just check your local yellow pages and call around and ask them yourself to know for sure. But I am sure that if you go to another salon they will still only charge you to get them filled and not make you pay for another set, but call around different salons just in case and if they say that they'll do it make sure that they are available the day you need them done.False nails?
you can go anywhere to get them filled.
If the nail tech did a good job on your nails, and used high quality products, you may be able to go 3, perhaps 4 weeks before you need a fill. At that time, they may have an appointment time available that will suit your needs. They may not look the best after that long, but you can do it. The main thing to look out for is lifting of the nail - be sure that it does not start to do this. If it doesn't start lifting, then you can just wait a little longer. I wouldn't just pick any salon to get them filled. You said you had to make an appointment for your nails. This is a good thing. The very last place you want to get your nails done is at some strip, or mall salon, where appointments are not needed. Usually these are the very worst places to get your nails done. All fills are not created equal! It depends on the products used, and the skill level of the tech. I would say to stick with the salon you had them done at. Just avoid the no appointment, assembly line, major language barrier type of places (like those awful 'salons' they have in WalMart!! Very bad...) They are the worst, by far...
Take them off, they ruin your nails, get a good strong nail polish and give yourself a manicure once a week, i am trained to do nail extentions and do not recomend them
You can get tempory nails if you are going for a night out
If i was you i would buy a nail buffer, polish, and a soft file and within weeks your nails would look like mine
picture below
You can get them infilled anywhere!!
Any salon can do them for you!!
I love having my nails done!
you can go anywhere
You can go to another salon to get them filled, but most people that do that will make fun of the person who did them before!! I've found that to be my experience, but it's all in good fun. I know the person that normally does my nails does a great job, and the only reason I went to the other salon was because I was in another town and did not have time to make it back to my normal nail pro!

i cant wear gel or acrylic nails, evrytime i have them put on the tops of my fingers * all around the nail become swollen, break open %26amp; begin to weep %26amp; get very sore, i have come to the conclusion that it is something to do with the glue that it is used %26amp; was wonderin if any body knew of a natural glue or something similar that could be used instead coz i cant grow my own nails to a decent length %26amp; would love to have fancy nails!!False nails?
it dosnt sound like the glue , it sounds as though when they are filing away at your nails before they apply the false tips they are filing a bit to close to the skin , they do exactly the same to me , what i tend to do if i dont get round to getting them done properly is use good quality false nails that you buy in the shops , n buying the proper glue (not the glue that comes with the nails ) they last ages n a much kinder to your skin then them filing away and leaving your skin raw . as for natural glue i dont think they would be any strong enough to keep the tips on ,False nails?
False nails are not tacky!!!!!if u spend a bit of money on them n av dem du by the rite ppl i fink they look great!!!!i feel so more nicer n more like a sexy lady with nails!!!!
False nails are so, so tacky. They look cheap and artificial, and I think you're better off leaving your nails short and natural. It looks so much classier.
It sounds like you have an allergy to the polymers used to build up the nail. Artificial nails are so damaging to your nails and skin. Take a look at this line of nail treatments and enamels: http://www.jessicacosmetics.com/ They provide only treatments to enhance natural nails. I also suggest having manicures done regularly at spas that only do natural nails. A manicure will help your nails grow and keep your cuticles in check. I hope this helps.
GROW YOUR OWN...THEY WONT BREAK IF YOU HAVE MILK AND 5 FRUITS ADAY
Hi, if you have a beauty salon close by, pop in and ask their advice,I expect they have seen this sort of thing before and I`m sure they would not mind advising you.
Good Luck!
Definitely go for the false nails from the shop and also invest in some nail remover lotion. This will get your nails off easily when you have had enough of them without causing additional damage. Also think about trying to grow your nails naturally. I know how difficult this is as I keep trying myself and after 6 months they are beginning to get into good condition. It is better to keep them short by clipping them when you first start as this will strengthen the nail, and keep the cuticles, removing them makes the nail weaker as it stops them getting the essential oils your nails need. Plus if your real nails are a little longer when you do have false ones done they won't be so close to your skin.
Hope you find something.
id rather have real nails! :d
You can try to put gel on your natural nails, you don't need glue for that, so they will be stronger and they won't break!
grow ur own theyre so much better if u have trouble with that cuz u keep biting ur nails then wear nail varnish a really bad tasting one it works for me they grow and you don't even notice it works for me

Why are so many women becomin clones..ie long blonde hair extensions..fake tans and false nails?
Turbo-charging in the national/international economy. Thinking of it like this should make people feel like resisting it all. Maybe they have gone past hope. Why are so many women becomin clones..ie long blonde hair extensions..fake tans and false nails?
No peace in the west (or the western way). But nowhere else is more attractive it seems.
Why are so many women becomin clones..ie long blonde hair extensions..fake tans and false nails?
I find this is true only in certain social areas and strata. Perhaps if these are the only types of women you meet it's time to find a different scene to socialize on? May I suggest nature-lovers, food and wine enthusiasts, professionals... Basically, anyone with an interest outside of themselves.
I've noticed this too - it's a shame, isn't it? Come on girls, be individuals! don't just copy a few sad celebs!
i have semi-long blonde hair, and long nails, but because I have exremly fair skin i dont tan. i just burn and go back 2 my normal color, so that mite be why, the fack tans.
idk but I'm a brunette and proud of it
ino like leah from big broda she is so fake bexcause dey dont like wat dey look like they dont wanna b natural dey wanna be fak wat da hell is dat bout dey need to stop and like demselves 4 who dey r!!!!!merk-age
There are lots of reasons; low self esteem, vanity, and the media has brainwashed so many people into thinking they have to look a certain way to be attractive. It is, in my opinion a huge marketing scam. Weight loss, dieting, plastic surgery, hair color, makeup, etc... Everytime you turn on the TV and even the radio, one of these companies has a commercial about improving yourself. They attempt to make people feel lousy about themselves and in return these people go and spend their hard earned money making these companies billions of dollars. Its a mass marketing scam that unfortunately, works.
Society tells them that that is the way they are supposed to be. Television and mass media as pervaded our lives and we now believe whatever MTV, E!, Bravo and whatever other television or internet outlet or beauty magazine tells us is true. So, therefore, you get this unilateral belief by Americans of what beauty is... Doesn't Jessica Simpson look good? To hell with intelligence... SHE LOOKS GOOD. Who needs a Stanford education when you got a dress on made by Gucci. Even though they probably cost about the same now.
Not me, black hair, short nails and real boobs.
I don't get it either!!!!
Because they see other women doing this and getting positive reactions from men. If men stopped responding favorably to Barbie-doll-clone women and started responding favorably to women who looked like real human beings, women would stop using all the artificial ';bait'; and would just be who they are.
Because that's what guys like.
good question.....and that is exactly what the guys like......if guys didn't like it they would not do it.....trust me...
It takes a lot of strength to be yourself in this society...
Low self esteem.
Because they buy into Hollywood's idea of beauty and are afraid to just be themselves.
common word to describe it is '; dumb ';
i personaly prefer dark hair, more atractive...
People search for things to make them happy. Some women who do this think that it will draw attention to them because they're ';beautiful';. Very few people are content with what they have and how they look.
I have naturally long blonde hair, a real tan and real nails...
I guess they're just trying to be like me.....hhhmmm...yeah that's it.
Because, believe it or not, they think its stylish.
same reson they like football .....they think its what us guys like to see in a woman . just goes to show they are all stupid bitches
because we want too
They think they look pretty.
because that's what men want.

Because they buy into Hollywood's idea of beauty and are afraid to just be themselves.
common word to describe it is '; dumb ';
i personaly prefer dark hair, more atractive...
Because, believe it or not, they think its stylish.
same reson they like football .....they think its what us guys like to see in a woman . just goes to show they are all stupid bitches
because we want too
They think they look pretty.
because that's what men want.
they may say differently, but post a sexy picture and you'll have them swarming all over you!

If I get false nails..?
I hear they wreck your nails..how long will it take for them to go back to normal again? Also I forgot the name of them..are they called acrylic or something? If I get false nails..?
I had them put on for my daughters wedding, last May and it took months for them to get back to ALMOST normal they still are thin and split which they never did before I got acrylic nails I say don't do it!!If I get false nails..?
You can get them in acrylic or fiberglass...Both will ruin your nails because they thin down your real nails before putting them on...It'll look nice for the first week or two...But your nails will be hideous after they come off...Some girls I know will just get them filled over and over again, but it's really not healthy for you or your nails to do that...I suggest using Sally Hansen's nail growth stuff to make it stronger and let your nail grow out...Then go to the nail salon and have them paint over your real nails...Keep them natural
yes they are acrylic, yes they damage your nails, everyone is diff--but i say alot of calcium (drink milk) and they will be back to norm in about a month, as long as you dont pick at them or chew off the weak nails....
heres the cons....my aunts friends got her nails done with acrylic nails, they got infected, she got gaingreen or whatever its called, and had to go to the ER
heres the pros....its about 10 bux more, but you should really think about GEL instead of acrylic. you go in and ask, they will know what your talking about. they are way less damaging, the shine is incredibly longer lasting and you will love them. they just last so much longer! thats what i always get now, screw acrylic!! lol hope this helps!
well, i have some experience with false nails, and yes they are called acrylics. How ever u can do the tips, or the fake nails. For me, if the person does it really good, it doesnt fall off until like 2-3 wks. But however, if u try to take them off by ursef, by pulling it off or something like that, u will damage ur nails. If u do damage ur nails, they become very rough, and u have to file it down. But for it to grow back good, and natural, it takes around probably a wk or 2. Depends on how long it takes for ur nail to grow out. If u go to the salon, they have a warm water bath for ur nails, in it, there is i think acetone, to remove the nail all out without waiting for it to fall out, or having to pull them out. Hope this helps.
They are acrylic and they mess up your real nails really bad. I have gotten my nails done forever and now when i pop off the fake nails before I go get my new set, and I look at my real nails, they look aweful! They are sooo thin, they bread easily, they have all kinds of cracks from the glue from the fake nails. If your going to get the fake nails, you have to keep them up. If your just going to get it done once, it is not worth it.
DONT GET THEM!!!!! trust me they do wreck ur nails they make them all brittle. and if you get them u have to keep getting them. your real nails become weak. i would just grow out your real nails and get a manicure. but if your nails arent ones to grow. start getting them done they will become more healthy and grow alot faster. just get lil 11 dollar manicures. and u can get arcylic on your real nails too.
it takes along timee if you want to avoid it go to the place where you had your nails done and make them do it for you or you can go to one fo your drugstore or walmart to get some product that gets your nails off easy i forgot the name but ask someone who is working there.
Don't get them. They look nice for about two days and then they are a pain and falling off and you are a prisoner to constantly fixing them.

My nails r only like 1/2cm some aint that long is it long enuff to have false nails done at a shop??
But you're a guy - why would you want false nails ??????????My nails r only like 1/2cm some aint that long is it long enuff to have false nails done at a shop??
I think that you can have false nails however long or short they are but if there really really long that its not necessary but it should be ok.My nails r only like 1/2cm some aint that long is it long enuff to have false nails done at a shop??
they actually will end up trimming off your own nails before they put on the real naiuls, otherwise it is dangerous for your fingers. Even the most chewed nails can have false nails. They wont put them on over existing long nails as if you accidentally pulled one, you'd do your finger damage. Let the beautician decide. I think you'll be grand
of course you can
it doesn't matter how short your nails are
You can have false nails on your nails at any length
go %26amp; ask them
Acrylic nails can be done on most any short existing nails as with sculptured gel types. The concern a nail technician may have is if you have any infections or fungus present. Also a big concern would be if your nail beds are strong and healthy enough to support the faux nails. If those things are satisfactory then you can safely proceed to have long gorgeous nails. Consider the length of time you wish to wear these new nails as to remove them will damage the existing nail beds leaving them weak and vulnerable to injury and infection.
Good luck sweetie=)
Yes you don't have to have any nails to have false ones done. I have no nails at all and when I go to a salon to have acrylic ones put on I've seen the nail technicians there actually cut the real nail down otherwise it would grow too fast underneath the false ones. P.S. I hate the word ';aint';. It's ';isn't';!. Sorry it's my pet hate.
of course they are
If you are going to have false nails on, go for sculptured rather than tips - tips have to be glued on and wreck your nails when they come off. Sculptured nails have hardly any effect on your own nails if they are taken off properly.
Any length of nail is fine but you may have to have infils more regularly as they are more likely to lift.
I should save your money and spend it on some English lessons. It will do you far more good and might help you in years to come.
yes of course they are as long as they have the smallest amount of nail to work with its ok hunni

Removal of false nails!?
hi there, does anyone know a way of removing false nails without damaging my own nails underneath?!Removal of false nails!?
Hi. Just about everyone has said for you to soak them in acetone and that's what you are supposed to do. I have done this many times and it does take some time. Anytime you have acrylic or any type of fake nails put on it is always going to do some damage to your natural nails..just part of it. But pour some acetone(you can find it at any beauty supply store and probably just about any place that sells nail products) into a glass or plastic bowl..don't use metal, and soak them for about ten minutes and then use a really coarse nail file and scrape the acrylic off that has softened. (It will have like a gummy consistency)You will have to just keep repeating these two steps because more than likely they are not just going to fall off by soaking them. It takes some time and the acetone is going to cause the skin that is exposed to it to look and feel very dry because it takes the natural oils out of your skin, but it will be ok. Just use plenty of lotion when you are finished. I am not patient when I take mine off..sometimes I go to a nail salon and let them do it..most charge 5 to 10 dollars to remove them. But when I do mine, I use the metal file that is on most nail clippers and gently get it under the fake nail if you can and it will cause an air pocket and I just slowly lift the fake nail off with the file. It's not the most pleasant experience but it's the quickest. Before you take them off, try to find one of those square nail files that has four sides...one for filing the nail edge, one for removing ridges from nails, one for smoothing the surface and the other to make your nails shine. These files are wonderful. It says on the file which is which and they are numbered in the order to use them. I use the side for removing ridges to remove any excess glue...your natural nails are going to look pretty bad at first...then I use the side that smoothes the surface..then I use the last one to make nails shine. After you do this, put some clear nail polish on and you'll be amazed at how much better your nails look. You can find plenty different nail products to put on your nails to strengthen them and get them back into good shape. Just use these products as directed and if you don't have fake nails put back on your nails will grow out and become healthy again. I've never known anyone to have a set of nails put on and not have some damage to the natural nail. Sorry for such a long answer but I hope it helps you. Good luck!Removal of false nails!?
rip em' off hah jk
soak in acetone nail polish remover...they will soften up and come off.
Hi,
from experience I found out it is better to go back to the salon where you had them done and they will soak them off for you.
When you do them yourself you really damage your own nails.
At the salon they can buff them and smooth your nails after they are removed. They will add nail hardner and you should wait a week to re-do your nails because fake nails thin your own nails.
If they are all acrylic then acetone is the best way. Soak let them get real gooy and then pat them dry a bit and file the gooy stuff off. If they have a gel top coat make sure you file this off because if not you will be there forever. Also if they are gel nails you need to drill them offf.
i find warm salty water really works well....leave them to soak in it for 10 mins then they should peel off really easy....works for me every time!
Soak them in warm acetone for about 30 mins and just keep rubbing. It is going to take some time, but that is the only way to take them off unless you go to a nail salon.
Yep sure just get a nail filer and start to go around the fake nail.
acetone
When i wear fake nails i use nail remover..what you do is soak your nails in it for like 5 to 10 minutes..they should come right off...
The best way is to get an acetone nail polish remover and sit for 30 minutes to an hour while watching tv and soak your nails. They will come off on there own in the acetone. Dont pick them too much or they will definitely cause more damage to your nails. My nails were totally and completely ruined when I took off my acrylics. It was awful! Make sure immediately after you take them off you cut your nails and go to a professional salon for a manicure. Good luck!
hello, yes i know how u go about removing false nails. u need to get some acetone nail polish remover %26amp; then put some in a rock glass so that when u put your hands in it that it covers your nails completely. then u need to put a towel over the hand that's in soaking for about 15 minutes before u take that hand out. then u need to remove the liquid on your nails with a cuticle pusher right away before it hardens again %26amp; then keep repeating this until all of that product is removed from your nails. this will take some time for u to do by yourself. also your real nails will be damaged some because of the product that was put on your real nails. my advice to you is to go to a nail salon %26amp; have them do this for you. it's not expensive %26amp; if u go back to the salon that put them on you to begin with they won't be upset at all. when a salon does this they put your hands in a dish that has acetone polish remover but it heats up %26amp; that makes the process happen much faster. so that's my advice to you for this question. good luck, nobrethequeen p.s. i'm a nail tech also
Buy some Kwik Off (Shoppers Drug Mart). It's a sponge soaked in solution in a container. Your put your finger in the hole in the sponge and twist it a few times. This will remove the nail and any polish on it. Once your fake nails are off, rub some pure coconut oil or olive oil, or lotion over your cuticles and nails and give them a couple days of being polish free.
OHH! You too! I hate false nails, well you get a bowl of hot water (very hot, but it shouldn't burn you!) And soak for about 30min (watch tv while your at it) Then slowly take them off (if still tight and glued to you finger, then 30min more!) When you get them off and glue is still left, take a filer and rub it off!
soak them in acetone for about 30 minutes, rub them, soak some more, and keep rubbing until they are all the way off
You have to use Acetone....I don`t wear fake nails but I did try them and they ruined my real nails, they thinned them terribly I had to start all over growing my nails.
You could soak them in Acetone, but it's really bad for your skin. Truly, it is the only non-painful way of doing it though.
soak your nails in an acetone solution (this is what most nail varnish remover is made from) then they should fall right off. You can buy special solutions to soak them off from most salon suppliers or large chemists.
I don't like putting fake nails on my nails...it annoys me...sorry can't help you.
Soak them in nail varnish remover, make sure it's NOT the acetone free stuff though.
It should take 20 -30 minutes %26amp; they'll dissolve %26amp; drop off, don't ever yank them off you can do all kinds of damage to your own nails
No, I dont think that is possible. When the nail was glued on and then the acrylic applied, it sealed your nail. Now you are basically going to rip it off. Soak them first, it makes the talk a little easier. (remover with acetone).
honestly i don't think that acetone works very well, in fact i think that your nails will always be affected after applying nails
yup acetone Is the only way !
Acetone (pure) is the best way. Soak your nails in the acetone. You will have to be patient, if you warm a pan of water and then put the bowl of acetone in the warm water it will make it go faster. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT directly heat acetone. Use an orangewood stick to slowly scrape the acrylic off your nails. Give yourself a good manicure and apply clear polish. Your nails may be a little soft for a few hours but will harden back up quickly. Good luck, please don't rip them off. Take your time and your natural nails will look great.
**use a few drops of baby oil in the acetone to keep your skin from drying out**
My boyfriends mom does nails and she has the best way to get them off. (Trust me... she's been doing my nails for the past 5 years!! lol)
1) cut paper towels into little squares
2) soak the paper towels in acetone -- which can be bought at any beauty supply store
3) cut tin foil into little squares
4) put the acetone soaked paper towels around your finger tips
5) take the tin foil and wrap it around the soaked paper towels and squeeze it kind of tight
6) leave it on for about 20-25 minutes
7) take a nail file and file down the remaining acrylic. it should come RIGHT off.
** This is a very very easy way to get them off! sometimes soaking them in a bowl takes forever and even if you do, its not enough to remove all the acrylic. The pressure from the tin foil helps break down the acrylic better!
Good luck.
Email me if you have any questions!
Your supposed to file down the nail first (Until its not shiny anymore) and the soak them in acetone for a while until they come off! Good luck =]
(remover with acetone).

if your gonna spend 20 bucks on a kit you might as well go to the salon. i think getting them done it well worth it because they look better and will last longer than anything you'll do at home. and you must get solar. but i guess if you want and quick and cheap and easy way, then just get the sets a cvs or walgreens for 6 or 7 bucks. you superglue then on your nails. but i you dont work to hard with your hand they may lastup to a week. get sally hanson or revlon brandsHelp choosing false nails?
